Elizabeth is one of my favorites! She has a rich full sound with beautiful overtones, amazing clarity and a warm enveloping bass. The concept for this build began forming several years ago. I envisioned a somewhat unassuming back and sides—beautiful, but not the typical highly figured woods I usually use. I wanted to focus on the accents, but this was a problem. I wanted a highly spalted piece of wood with high contrast between the black spalted lines and the creamy white tamarind. That was hard to find—I searched for 8 months with no luck. One day, my 75 year-old mother called and said she had a birthday present for me. She had befriended a neighbor family whose father was a wood purchaser for a major woodturning supplier. He tracked down the perfect block of spalted tamarind that far exceeded my expectations. My mother has always been one of my biggest supports and admirers of the work I do. This guitar was named after her and is a tribute to her love and support.
